20 Under 40 Awards Banquet

Twenty young professionals from around the Region, including Laciak>cpa’s own Brian Laciak, were honored during The Times Media Co.’s annual “20 Under 40” awards banquet at the Blue Chip Casino, Hotel and Spa, in Michigan City Thursday night.

The honorees, all under the age of 40, are leaders in business, education, government and social services around Northwest Indiana. The annual recognition program, sponsored by The Times Media Co. and IN Business magazine, is one of the Region’s signature business events.

Ondas is Principal at School City of Hammond, and was honored for her contributions at the school and in the community during an awards banquet held September 28th at Avalon Manor. Centier Bank Ribbon Cutting

Valparaiso YMCA Golf Outing

A foursome representing Laciak>cpa were proud to participate in the 2017 Valparaiso YMCA Golf Outing, “On Course For A Cause,” on July 27th at Valparaiso Country Club. The team, comprised of Jane Szymczak, her son Tatum Szymczak, grandson Roenick Rex, and Ryan Bishop,  had a wonderful time, and were just five teeny, tiny, strokes off the winning team’s score.

Congratulations to YMCA Director of Annual Giving Donna Demko on a fantastic event, and a big thank you to all the event sponsors, especially Family Express for breakfast, water on the course, golf balls, and golf towels. Also kudos to Crystal Olympidis for raising more than $200 on the putting hole! We had a lot of fun, for a great cause.

Laciak>cpa’s Jane Szymczak was on hand to support the 2015 ARTability show by Opportunity Enterprises. The show featured a wide variety of canvas, ceramic, and glass artwork from over 200 OE clients that Opportunity Enterprises was hoping would raise around $25,000. Guests were able to attend the auction for no cost and bid on artwork with a simple text message. Each piece of artwork supports the Art Enrichment Program and artists also receive a commission from every purchase made. Laciak>cpa is a proud supporter of OE and supplied our signature blue bags for shoppers to use to take home their purchases.


@PCgivingproject “Night at the Improv”

Mark your calendars! The @PCgivingproject “Night at the Improv” is scheduled for November 6 at Strongbow Inn in Valparaiso! Check out what the founders of this great organization (including Laciak>cpa’s very own Geoff Laciak) were able to do with the first grant given to Jacob’s Ladder Pediatric Rehab.

The Porter County Community Foundation is proud to announce that the Founders of @PCgivingproject selected Jacob’s Ladder Pediatric Rehab to receive the first @PCgivingproject Fund grant. The $8000 grant will help fund aquatic therapy training and pool equipment for this nonprofit organization that serves children with special needs.

The @PCgivingproject is the Foundation’s group of young leaders and families who are dedicated to making a difference in our community through helping support innovative education and youth development programs that serve children and youth. Their goal is to give away half of the money they raise annually in grants and endow the other half in a permanent fund with the Porter County Community Foundation for future grants.

On St. Patrick’s Day, Laciak>cpa’s Director of Client Relations Jane Szymczak celebrated in style at the opening of the “Ireland: Crossroads of Art and Design, 1690-1840″ exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago. Curated in part by Jane’s daughter-in-law Leslie Fitzpatrick, the project took more than 5 years to complete, and showcases home furnishings, accessories, musical instruments, paintings, and much more from a time when Ireland enjoyed great prosperity. The exhibit runs through June 7. Leslie will be a special guest speaker at the upcoming Valparaiso Rotary lunch on March 30.
