Brian J. Laciak, CPA, MBA
When you genuinely enjoy what you do, it shows. Brian Laciak, accounting manager and CPA with Laciak>cpa in Schererville and Valparaiso, loves what he’s doing. From the personal client relationships, to the daily problem solving, to the business valuation process and future financial forecasting, Brian relishes in the diversity his career as a CPA brings him, specifically at Laciak, the firm his father founded in 1983 when Brian was just 5 years old.
“Growing up, I always liked and admired the work my father did, but I never imagined I’d one day be working with him,” says Brian, who joined the Laciak>cpa team in October 2009. “But after spending some time working with larger firms in Chicago, I had a different perspective on the work I was doing. I knew my dad always put his clients first – I saw it firsthand my whole life. I wanted to be able to have that flexibility and team environment where clients always get more than what they pay for, and that’s exactly what we offer at Laciak.”
Another perk of working at Laciak was joining his twin brother Geoff, who had already joined the family business the year prior. It’s fitting that the two work together; after all, they both attended the University of Notre Dame, and graduated summa cum laude in 2000 with degrees in Accounting and minors in Finance. From there, Brian went on to earn a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is an accredited Personal Financial Specialist with the AICPA.
Together, the Laciak sons have added even more to the Laciak>cpa offering, which speaks volumes for a firm long-recognized for offering their clients more than just traditional accounting services.
It’s this kind of comprehensive consulting that Brian and the team at Laciak enjoy the most. “When an idea comes up, we immediately start thinking about what clients we have and how they could potentially benefit from the information,” says Brian.
And that’s exactly what Brian would like to see more of in the bright future of Laciak and their clients. “It’s not just about filling out forms for us. We are invested in our clients’ success, and especially in this area. We will never forget where we came from and the value we can add to where we are.”
One thing is for certain – all signs indicate that where Brian Laciak is right now is clearly where he needs to be. Laciak clients and teammates alike benefit from his leadership, ever-broadening knowledge, integrity, and warm, helpful nature. Personally, life couldn’t be sweeter either. He and his wife Marcy are happily rooted in Valparaiso with their two children.
“We say it a lot around here, but we mean it. We are blessed,” says Brian.”We are blessed in this business and in our lives, and we couldn’t be more excited about the next 30 years at Laciak>cpa.”
