In accounting, things aren’t referred to as serendipitous. Especially around Laciak>cpa, where information is power and next steps are carefully considered before thoughtfully executed.
But when it comes to how staff accountant Amanda Bray ended up at Laciak>cpa, apart from her choice of study and career, for which she’s perfectly suited, this story is nothing if not sweet serendipity.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Ball State University, Amanda spent four years in the Indianapolis area as a corporate accountant for National Wine & Spirits and ADESA, a subsidiary of KAR Auction Services. She loved her work, but missed her hometown of LaPorte, and wanted to raise daughter Chloe where they would be close to family and friends.
Not long after, Amanda received a job offer with Lambert, Lanoue & Smoker, a small CPA firm in LaPorte, Indiana. After moving home, she reconnected with childhood friend Isaac and they married in 2014.
As serendipitous as life had been, Amanda wasn’t expecting too much when a recruiter reached out to her with yet another opportunity, until she saw the position was at an office in the heart of downtown Valparaiso.
“Then I did some research on the firm, and I was so inspired by the history, and Laciak>cpa’s mission to help small business owners,” says Amanda. “Now that I’m here, I love being part of a team that helps local business owners pursue ventures they’re passionate about to make a living and provide for their families.”
On the Laciak>cpa team, Amanda supports managers Geoff, Brian, and Michelle with client accounting, tax preparation, and reporting, and is actively studying for the CPA. Amanda was recently accepted to Valparaiso University’s prestigious College of Business, where she’ll begin coursework for her MBA in the Spring of 2018.
Amanda, Isaac, and their five children live in LaPorte. They enjoy family bike rides and game time, and are active members of Christ Gospel Church of LaPorte.
